The customisation and update of an outdated framework to enable the website system to operate with new features

How we helped The University of East London by carrying out customised development work on their existing website framework. We helped The University of East London update their existing website systems to increase functionality and efficiency among the staff and students who utilise the systems for all day-to-day tasks. The University of East London is a careers led university which dedicates itself to its students’ development in the essential skills needed to prosper in their prospective career fields as well as in the wider world.

The brief

We were contracted to increase the useability and functionality of The University of East London’s website systems.  

What we did  

Brainiac Media was contracted to work on the university's framework and we were tasked with supporting them in making changes to improve their system and website functionality for its users. 

The existing legacy framework made it difficult to add functionality and update, luckily, our Brainiacs were able to navigate through this highly convoluted legacy framework.

In fact, they untangled it the way you would a necklace chain hidden at the bottom of a box: with care and precision. Once they had taken it apart they began to focus on the important part, ‘how can we make this into something not just usable but great’. They spoke to the client, drafted ideas and came up with a plan. Soon, they began rejigging the website systems in a way that had the functionality that the staff and business required. 

Being a university, the functionality of the website systems was imperative. Being able to change the systems in such a way that made it more usable was a tall task but we rose to it. We managed to rework the framework and make complex changes to the system to deliver new functionality to the application. Being able to deliver on these changes ensured that the university could update functionality to their existing framework without changing it completely, and with great tenacity, we got there.
